Introducing Power Up!

In January, several local Junior and Cadette Girl Scouts participated in our very first Power Up Event. Power Up, a bully prevention program developed by Girl Scouts of Colorado, focuses on the kinds of bullying most common to girls: excluding, ignoring, gossiping and drama. Power Up concentrates on encouraging the 85% of girls who are bystanders to bullying to take action to defend targets because doing nothing is not an option!  Read more

Safety First: Girl Scouts Are Emergency-Ready!

Girl Scouts are always ready to give others a hand, even during an emergency! During emergencies, they have to act using the skills they’ve learned from their first aid training. Recently, the courage and quick thinking of a Chimacum Girl Scout, Amelia Foster, saved her four year old sister from choking on candy, by using the skills from her American Red Cross training! An Encamporee Adventure!

Have you ever heard of an encamporee? They’re a way for girls in troops to get to camp year-round! You might have heard about, or even have gone to one of our day camps or one of our summer camps, but our camp locations are actually used all year. Encamporees are organized by our wonderful volunteers, who are in charge of our Service Units. (Service Units, or SUs, are made up of many troops from a single area.) When a SU wants to organize an encamporee, they get all of the troops who want to go, and they decide on a one-day or one-weekend time that will work. Read more

Want to make your own paper, just like these girls?

We know we’ve been talking about Forever Green for a while now (hint, hint, have you taken the pledge yet?) but we just heard a very cool story about how Troop 44126 just made their own paper! The project let each girl both design and create her very own hand-made paper. Read more
